The world’s largest underground hospital operates in the Israeli city of Haifa. During the Lebanese war, the medical center Rambam was repeatedly under fire, and the patients had to be taken to the basements. Later the basements were rebuilt and rearranged. Today the underground hospital has 2,000 beds.
